In the September issue of Reality Checking—Alternate Perceptions Magazine, I did a book review of “The Orb Incident” written by Reinhard Denke. He mentions a very interesting episode, that E.B. David claimed happened in June 1982 in upstate New York, where he and a lady friend stood beneath a low hovering green sphere about 15 feet across, which was perfectly still and quiet overhead for about 30 minutes. He and his friend, he recalled, felt very calm but afterwards he was haunted for years by strange dreams, anxieties, and things related to his left-brain hemisphere. At one point, he bumped into a car on a narrow street head on. Fortunately, he was going very slowly but got an instant headache. So, he went to a doctor and had an X-ray and discovered a strange shadow located over the left hemisphere of his head. Even his doctor was very mystified. In fact, before that he was getting a haircut and the barber pointed out a perfect white oval spot of hair on the left side of his head, about the size of an egg, which just happened to be the same spot, size and shape of the shadow in the X-ray.
Left Hemisphere Brain Anomalies
Later a neurologist diagnosed him with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy that originated in the left temporal region. Fortunately, it’s a very mild condition, with maybe two seizures a year. He takes medication for it. He also had skin cancer at the left temporal area of his head, too.
With the UFO encounter and everything weird that has happened to him since, he stated to the author: “It’s way too much of a coincidence.” In addition to the frequent bouts with anxiety (which he was totally and rather inexplicably calm during the UFO encounter) he afterwards also would stand at his bedroom window listening to a “low frequency rumbling” sound that sounded like a large truck or even an army tank off in the distance. This went on for several nights a week for about 20 years. He stated: “Looking back, I estimate I could stand there and listen for at least an hour. Wow, when I hear myself say that, it seems like a lot. When my girlfriend would stay over, she’d sometimes wake up and tell me to come back to bed. I’d tell her I was just waiting for the truck to arrive.”
It never did. He’d have very lucid recurring UFO dreams involving a strange tone that caused him to feel a “surge of euphoria…infinitely better than an orgasm.” He added: “I can’t even conceive of anything outside of my dream creating that unique tone or sensation. The moment I heard that tone, I was so happy instantly. I’d be thrilled. My entire body was electric, like I was turned on to feelings of total ecstasy.”
He had a lot of weird things that began to happen to him following the UFO encounter, as if observing a UFO at close-proximity wasn’t weird enough.
Honestly though, for a while now, I’ve wondered about the possible implications of some of these other subjective seeming oddities that enter the lives of otherwise typical UFO sighters. While the majority of so-called “ufologists” seem singularly interested and focused on the “flying object” descriptions, how those encounters may impact and change the lives of those experiencers themselves in unusual physiological, psychological, and even so-called “paranormal” ways often has been neglected.
Orb Handlers
In December 2009, I interviewed a Tennessee man who, along with his wife, had seen a disc-shaped object with yellow-white lights around its rim silently and slowly flying low over their neighborhood. Around December1991 he had an encounter while he was out hunting alone in a wooded area of Cherry Creek, New York. He spotted a deer with antlers at an estimated 50 yards distance. Oddly, he had no urge to shoot it. After watching it for perhaps 30 seconds he suddenly saw not the deer but a person wearing a tight-fitting suit covering its body. The clothing glistened in the sunlight with a mother of pearl quality. “It’s funny, though, that I can remember those details but can’t see the face of the person,” he added. [Which is interesting as many other experiencers have complained of this same thing]
This “person” raised his left arm and there in his left hand was a shiny silver metallic ball with a chrome looking finish. “I watched this silver ball rise up out of his hand and then it was almost instantaneously in my face,” he said. It was about the size of a golf ball, was at eye level, and a mere six to eight inches away!
“That’s all I can remember,” he noted. “Then I woke up.” He had been in the middle of a very high-strangeness encounter, which had his full undivided attention, and then he found himself coming back into conscious awareness, as if he had briefly for a time fallen asleep in the midst of such a bewildering event and was now waking up. This wouldn’t be the only time that the perception of a deer might have been a so-called “screen memory” in an alien encounter. Apparent “screen memories” are reported in many so-called “alien abduction” and contactee cases where the memory of an encounter experience is replaced with the sighting of seeing an owl, a wolf, a deer, or something else of a more acceptable conscious context than say an alien humanoid. Such a memory is seen as either a psychological self-defense mechanism to protect the psyche of the experiencer from the trauma of the episode, or else the alien non-human presence has somehow implanted the substitute memory to mislead the percipient. Whitley Strieber wrote in Communion (1987) of his apparent “screen memories” of a wolf and an owl.
This hunter in the Cherry Creek incident had a twin brother who still lived in New York. Like many twins, they have shared a psychic bond that goes back to childhood. They both have many strange memories of a psychic nature and incidents with entities – some ghostly and others perhaps related to UFO encounters. His twin was once an avid hunter who loved bow hunting, but he lost his desire to hunt after an incident wherein the deer suffered greatly in its death, its final vocalizations “reaching into my soul,” he said. During that same hunt he heard for about five minutes a mysterious “low resonating hum” like a didgeridoo coming at him from every direction. “I sold my bow, gave my tree stands away, and asked the spirits for forgiveness.”
The Tennessean has a psychic gift. Sometimes while he’s talking with someone, a deceased relative will come through. He will develop light-headedness and see a strange haze around the person, and then clear images will come to him. “The image then begins to tell me things or show me pictures in my head. I then relay this information back to the person I’m talking to.” His wife’s deceased father came to him before they were married. “She was crying,” he recalled. “She wanted to know how I knew such intimate details of her life with him.”
He said that this happens to him many times but that he seldom mentions it to the person he’s with. “My left hand shakes for some unknown reason when I have had those experiences,” he added. “It also gets hard to breathe, like I’m trying to catch my breath.”
He is right-handed, while his twin in New York is left-handed.
What intrigued me is that I uncovered similar cases of left-handed aliens manipulating mysterious spherical objects! In 2009 I interviewed Johnny Sands, a country singer, entertainer and stuntman in Nashville, Tennessee, who had seen a UFO in Nevada on the night of January 29, 1976, and had a close encounter with a humanoid being that produced a grapefruit-sized, silver-colored sphere out of his left hand, which grew to the size of a basketball. “Then he let go of it and it began to rotate,” Sands told me. “As it did, he would put his fingers over the top of it and like firecrackers would go off on top of this ball.” Next Sands was given a message: “You see, nuclear explosions are causing a problem in the solar system. These things that you’re setting off on this earth are causing troubles not only for you but for us and we cannot have this kind of thing to continue because it is going to upset the balance of everything that we intend for the future.”
After uncovering these two cases I began doing some research to see if there were other cases per chance involving non-human beings manipulating mysterious spherical objects.
I hit paydirt. Another case took place on June 14, 1968, at Villa Carlos Paz near Cordola, Argentina, at the Motel La Cuesta. Shortly after 1 a.m., Maria Elodia Pretzel, 19, had just let two guests out a side door into the parking lot and had turned off some of the lights on the ground floor. She left three fluorescent lights on in the dining room and headed toward the back door to lock it. The young woman noticed a light blue glow emanating from the dining room. Returning to it, she encountered a humanoid figure dressed in a shiny light blue, tight-fitting one-piece suit. It stood slightly over two meters tall. “In his left hand he was holding a glassy-looking sphere which irradiated a coherent beam of light – light of a faintly pale blue color, almost white,” noted investigator and lawyer Dr. Oscar A. Galindez (Vol. 26, No. 5, January 1981, Flying Saucer Review, England). “The sphere was constantly moving forward and backward and lighting up the whole dining room quite independently of the fluorescent tubes. The entity was smiling the whole time.”
Another remarkable case, also investigated by Dr. Galindez (Vol. 21, No. 5, 1975, FSR), took place in Argentina and involved a 52-year-old truck driver, Luftolde Rodriquez. On September 28, 1972, at around 3:40 a.m., Rodriguez was making a delivery to a plant in Santa Isabel when he had a strange humanoid encounter. Dr. Galindez wrote: “In his left hand he displayed something that looked like a billiard-ball, which was permanently emitting a very white light. The right arm was drawn back somewhat. He was wearing a wide, silvery belt, with a little box or casket of the same color on the right-hand side.”
At a farm near Gabela, in Angola, around 8 p.m., October 7, 1968, several people were listening to a radio when interference on the radio occurred, in addition to electrical problems. Two men began to walk toward an electrical generator where a stranger was seen standing nearby. As they walked toward it one of them noticed a strange object on the ground, about three meters high, glowing brightly, with an open door, and the object shaped like a polygonal pyramid. But then both men next observed a being that stood about two meters tall, wearing a light blue robe and yellow boots and gloves, with a face with feline features, and that walked in an odd “mechanized” manner. In an outstretched left arm, it was holding a shiny sphere in its hand. One of the men had a rifle in his hands but did not shoot the being as he had a feeling that it posed no danger, even as it walked in their direction. The other man ran away though the man with the rifle watched as the being, which next changed direction and walked stiff legged up a ramp into the doorway of the pyramid shaped object, an estimated 10 to 12 yards away, sat down in a chair, put on a seatbelt, deposited a sack of coffee beans in his right hand into a drawer and the sphere on a panel. Soon the door shut and the object begam (began) spinning around, ascended skyward, then circled the farm, eventually disappearing off into the distance.
On January 7, 1970, at Imjarvi, Finland, two skiers came upon a small humanoid figure standing in a beam of light beneath a domed disc-shaped object. Afterward, both men had more UFO-related encounters. One of them, Aarno Heinonen, said that on May 5, 1972, he met a strange woman with a high-pitched voice with shoulder length yellow hair who wore a close-fitting dress that glittered when she moved, and silvery shoes with red rosettes. He added: “In her left hand she held something that looked like a ball, silver in color and connected to a rod which she held in her hand. On the ball were three antennae, each about 30 centimeters long, and each of which pointed towards me.”
They talked for about five minutes. The woman was beautiful, her face and hands fair skinned, and her large eyes were blue. She said she came from the other side of the galaxy. He met her again, around the same time of the day, on June 18, 1972. She carried with her the same silvery sphere. Their meeting lasted about the same length of time. Heinonen asked her how she had arrived, and she told him he would see their beautiful vehicle on his way home. He did indeed, and that it was a silvery disc-shaped object about five to seven meters across. He added, “Her method of departure was very odd: she seemed to ‘float’ away and disappear. Her gait was stiff, and her knees did not bend.”
In May 2018, I caught a glimpse on TV of the final last few minutes of Ancient Aliens. Two photos were shown that immediately caught my eye. One was a Salvator Mundi painting of Christ, attributed to the Italian Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci (1513 A.D.), and the other was a painting of a Buddha from the 14th century, and in both these paintings these religious figures were holding a sphere in their left hand. Author and mythologist William Henry, a frequent guest on this program, was talking about them. I contacted him by email to see if I could learn more. He told me he’d keep an eye out for more images of these “orb holders,” as he called them. He identified them with the Tibetan symbol of the Chintamani (pronounced chinta-mun-eye), described as the stone of heaven. The “orb handler” would purportedly possess the powers of the universe. Could there be a connection? Coincidence? One researcher suggested to me that most of us will hold a cellphone in our left hand and manipulate its controls with our right hand, pointing out that this might tell us something about how an alien being’s brain/body system operates. But then, on the other hand, I was interested in the possible psychic component of our own brain/body processes noted in psychic/mediumistic interactions with alleged entities. The first case cited of the Tennessee man I had interviewed about the silver figure that released a silver sphere from its left hand that came up to his face and hovered, after which he blacked out, and how he has unexpected, spontaneous episodes sometimes with people when his left hand begins shaking and he seems to see and interact somehow with the spirit of a dead person connected with someone in his presence. Thus, I’m thinking this could go to something of even deeper implications.
In Strange Electromagnetic Dimensions (2015) by Australian researcher and author Louis Proud, I was intrigued to come upon the story of Angelique Cottin, age 14, who became nicknamed the “electric girl.” Her story began in the village of Bouvigney, France, on January 15, 1846. Described as a short young lady of below average intelligence she was on that day weaving silk thread gloves with three other women when suddenly the oaken table that they were working at inexplicably moved. The group of women were alarmed, and their work was temporarily halted. Then young Angelique decided to return to her job whereupon again the table moved. It was as though whenever she touched the table it would scoot away from her.
The next morning the phenomenon repeated itself. People of the village became concerned that Angelique might be possessed by a devil. It was decided she should meet with the parish priest. As it turned out, in his own home the priest witnessed for himself how the young girl touched a table and it moved away from her and how a chair she sat on began rocking wildly. Fortunately, though baffled by the phenomena he had witnessed, the priest ruled out witchcraft.
Locals were naturally interested and curious about what they were hearing and soon the parents of Angelique decided to benefit financially from their daughter’s newfound talents by charging a fee for people to see her demonstrate her strange abilities. Eventually Angelique’s parents decided she should be taken to Paris and be studied by members of the French Academy of Sciences. It was the famous Academy’s physicist Francois Arago who headed the study. A Dr. Sanchon conducted a number of impressive experiments with Angelique. For example, he’d hold firmly to a chair with his foot and both hands and as soon as she sat down the chair was suddenly, he wrote, “torn from my grasp.” Several times a large and heavy dining table was “displaced and pushed” from the mere contact of her clothing. In another experiment a number of strong people were holding a chair with Dr. Sanchon sitting on one side and as soon as Angelique sat down on the other side of it, the Sanchon said the chair “suddenly pushed from under me.”
“In his report, he argues that her abilities were due to a ‘gaseous current’ or ‘fluid’ that emanated from the front part of her body, particularly around the wrist and elbow region of her left arm,” Proud noted. “He goes on to state that her left arm continually quivered and contracted in an unusual manner and that it seemed a good deal warmer than her right arm. …He further claims that a small paper wheel placed vertically or horizontally on its axis was observed to rotate rapidly when brought in close proximity to the wrist or elbow joint of Angelique’s left arm.”
[Remember again how the Tennessee man claimed how his left hand would begin shaking when a spirit would seemingly begin connecting with him psychically.]
Proud speculates that the reason Dr. Sanchon called the energy “fluid” was that back then electricity was perceived as a fluid, even referred to as “electric fluid,” and as for the use of the term “gaseous current,” that might have had something to do with an experiment done with Angelique where a paper balanced on his finger was “blown away…as though by a sudden rush of wind.”
Then, on April 10, 1846, after nearly three months, Angelique’s strange abilities disappeared as mysteriously as they had appeared.
“The left-handedness seems to indicate the increased participation of the right lobe of the brain in mediumistic states,” the late Dr. Nandor Fodor, a New York psychoanalyst, said in his exhaustive volume An Encyclopedia of Psychic Science (1966). In reviewing the literature of the investigations and reports of individuals with mediumistic abilities Fodor noted that in quite a number of instances during reported mediumistic entrancements the mediums would switch from being right-handed to left-handed, with other symptoms that reflected hemispheric shifts of consciousness as well.
Diane Hennacy Powello, M.D., in her book The ESP Enigma, explored various clues to how certain of us may be wired for states of consciousness that may provide some understanding and insight into anomalous experiences like we’re discussing in this article. For example, she wrote of how Neurologist Richard Cytowic found 17 percent of synesthetes have a “high frequency of ‘unusual experiences’ such as clairvoyance and premonitions. …Like people with autism, synesthetes often have clinical signs of left hemisphere damage and right hemisphere dominance. These signs include subtle mathematical deficiencies, confusion of their left and right, and being left-handed or ambidextrous.”
A California contactee named Brian Scott was described being in a strange trance state while doing something like automatic writing (November 5, 1975) reported by someone identified as one Lou Savage, who said: “He looked strange: facial features were taut, like a semi-solid rock. His eyes had a fixed stare. Not on the paper, but on the wall in front of his desk, and his facial color was a dull gray; nothing even resembling skin tone as I know it. All the while Brian’s eyes were fixed on the wall, his left-hand continued writing. Brian is not left-handed…”
It was downright scandalous in John Keel’s view that the only full-scale psychological study of a contactee had been conducted back in the 1890s by Swiss psychologist Theodor Flournoy of the University of Geneva. His subject was a popular medium known as Helene Smith, who produced a complex “Martian” language. When in a trance state, Smith would often look for her pocket on the left side instead of the right, and if one of her fingers was pinched or pricked behind a screen, the corresponding finger on the opposite hand would be agitated.
A woman in Florida, whose Navy husband and 13-year-old son had a close encounter with a domed disc-shaped object while in the vicinity of the Mayport Naval Station back in July 1967. Within about four days of that sighting, their home erupted with poltergeist activity. It began with “voices” – a loud male voice she would hear on her left side calling her first name. She said it was “just behind the left ear. I’d turn around to look and there was nobody there.” I would later learn of other similar cases. For example, I learned that British “direct voice” medium Leslie Flint claimed to hear “voices” on his left side, which he felt sounded like it was a mere couple feet away. I also read where the famed Brazilian psychic healer Arigo was allegedly guided by a spirit doctor who spoke into his left ear. A Colin Parsons wrote a book (Encounters With The Unknown) describing how for some 30 years a whispering voice gave him messages in his left ear. He told of how he was told things that it was humanly impossible for him to have known under regular circumstances.
Meanwhile, back to the woman at Mayport, Florida, the poltergeist activity later escalated from the voices, footsteps, and knocking sounds, to entities appearing at her bedside, awakening her often around 3 a.m. She’d awaken immobilized, in a state of tingling paralysis. She would observe a humanoid figure. “I noticed the open shirt collar on the entity very clearly. It stood out more so than the face. The face seemed distorted or fuzzy.” [Remember the complaint of the man in Tennessee and his inability to remember the face. This has been reported by many others of UFO beings and “ghosts”.]
Small glowing balls of bluish or golden lights appeared in her bedroom, too. “When the blue ones were around nothing bad went on but when the little gold ones were around then something bad would go on,” she said.
However, as I browsed through the pages of Skinwalkers at the Pentagon (2021) by James T. Lacatskil, D. Eng., Colm A. Kelleher, Ph.D., and George Knapp, investigators looking into Utah’s Skinwalker Ranch found that something strange would at times follow them home. It became known as the “hitchhiker” effect. These things would later even be reported by family members. Even the wives of Kelleher and Eric Davis, lead investigators who had spent hundreds of days on night watches at Skinwalker, would report to their husbands later that there were nights where they’d see “people” in their bedrooms, as well a black shadows moving through their house. John Keel back in the 1960s would call such instances “bedroom invaders.’
There were reports of strange paranormal effects, on the ranch property or later at the private homes of investigators, and reports at Skinwalker of a wolf or doglike creature that was often bipedal, could run on two legs, stood about six-to-seven feet tall, and at times appeared in conjunction with “orb like activity.” Reports of UFOs in the area have consisted of disc-shaped objects, triangular ones, cigar shapes, and silent “balls of light” of various colors. The small blue orbs, unlike those described at Mayport, Florida, seemed capable of bad encounters in the Skinwalker Ranch related incidents. For example, a baseball sized blue orb low to the ground in a large field nearby was charged by three dogs who pursued it out of sight behind some trees and undergrowth. The dog’s owner heard a “series of high-pitched yelps and then silence.” The next day the man went out to look for his dogs. Instead, in the area they had disappeared, he discovered three black greasy lumps in the middle of three dried out circles of vegetation. “The rancher presumed that his three dogs had been incinerated. The dogs were never seen again.”
This reminded me of an interview I had done with Thomas Ferrario regarding the horrible death of a horse at Marley Woods in Missouri. He described how this rancher had seen his prize horse just about 20 minutes before and then he returned and entered this barn, and he described how it looked “like a slaughterhouse.”
“He said there were horse pieces hanging from the rafters, blood all over. When we got out there to examine it and take samples, they had removed all the large pieces of the horse,” Ferrario recalled. “There still was blood everywhere and a few samples of the flesh.” A statement was made how it was “as if the horse had been put in a microwave oven and exploded.” No natural explanation for this could be found. Lab analysis detected no signs of explosives.
Returning to Skinwalkers at the Pentagon, and those blue orbs, after a silent, softball sized orb flew over a researcher’s wife an estimated inch over one of her shoulders, while walking their dog one night in September 2009 in a suburb of Maryland, the woman, described as superbly athletic and fit and someone who simply never was sick, a few hours later had flu type symptoms, which progressively got worse. It took dozens of doctors’ visits, including neurologists, immunologists and other specialists till finally the malady was identified. Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, an autoimmune disease that attacks the thyroid gland. She has been on medication ever since, and her husband is certain that her problem was a direct consequence of her encounter with the blue orb.
She was hardly alone. Others had health ailments following such encounters. One of the most thoroughly investigated was of a 48-year-old biotechnologist in Oregon on a trip with his daughter on May 1, 2005. The daughter first spotted three small bright blue orbs that rapidly approached their car. Two of the orbs entered the interior of their vehicle. One of those orbs entered the upper left arm of the father, who was driving. He told scientists later how he could feel a sense of movement as the orb entered inside of him. He recalled his vision became blurred and hazy. He remembered the horrified expression on his daughter’s face and after the orb exited his right upper arm, he recalled seeing the bright blue ball of light about 100 feet away. He said the thing was spherical in shape and about the size of a softball. Within minutes he began feeling ill.
That weekend as he was attending a conference, he was feeling dizzy and nauseous. He developed an intense red rash on the left side of his face. In addition, he found he was losing hair from the front left side of his head, from around the hairline and eyebrow. He progressively kept getting worse, even his ankles were swelling, and he developed diminished visual acuity in his left eye and decreased hearing in his left ear.
“In the two-year period following the incident serial blood samples taken from Ron Becker (not his real name, BR) showed pronounced abnormalities in his hematological parameters. His most serious medical complaint was a diagnosis of Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS) in his left chest in February 2007. Although extremely rare in man, Becker’s physician was certain of the diagnosis. He underwent surgery on May 14, 2007. A biopsy of his lymph nodes indicated that the cancer had not metastasized.”
One woman described to me having had paranormal experiences going back to her childhood. Other family members have shared similar experiences. “I heard these dead relatives at the left side of my head and in two experiences I was pulled out of my body from the left side, too,” she explained. One of those episodes was a definite paranormal incident. She woke up from sleep, hearing her grandmother, who at the time was in a senior citizen’s home. The voice said, “I forgive you.”
“She then pulled me out of the left side of my head,” she explained. “She didn’t look like Grandma. Gran was rather short and plump, and this woman was tall, young, and looked like a beautiful, slim, clothing store mannequin with beautiful golden skin! I remember us talking a lot, close to each other. We even laughed a bit and were also very serious. There was a light around us, but not on us. I heard a man from outside the light say, ‘It’s time to go.’ We hugged. The next thing I was waking up in the morning, in bed. Just after I’d gotten up, the phone rang. It was my mother and before she could say anything other than ‘Hello,’ I loudly said, ‘I KNOW!’ Yup, Gran had just died. I still don’t know what I’d done to cause her to need to forgive me.”
“My brain was affected by an aspergillosis infection in my ears.” This presumably next brought on her diagnosis of Left Temporal Epilepsy. She added, “I began to have ‘seizures’ during which I saw light radiating from everything….weirdly, I could feel where ghosts were.” But overall, this condition brought about a dramatic reduction in her “weird” paranormal and ghostly experiences.
In Rosemary Ellen Guiley’s Foreword to my book John A. Keel: The Man, The Myths, and the Ongoing Mysteries (2019), she pondered: “Keel recognized that certain individuals were ‘wired’ differently from others and thus were more likely to encounter the strange beings and entities that exist in a netherworld on this planet. Keel never said that about himself, but I always thought that he too was one of those wired persons, for he had a great many paranormal experiences – and highly unusual ones, such as those that happened to him while he was investigating the Mothman wave. From the get go, Keel had an antenna tuned to the frequencies of parallel worlds, alternate realities and interdimensional realms. And that attunement is what led him – perhaps even drove him – into the investigation and study of all things paranormal.”
The Blue Pearl?
It has been estimated that one-fifth of our planet’s 10,000 bird species somehow migrate across huge distances and how some of the obstacles these birds face are truly enormous. Examples given are the Demoiselle Cranes that fly over the Himalayan Mountains at altitudes in excess of 20,000 feet, and the Arctic Tern that is said to traverse some 40,000 miles in its pole-to-pole migration pattern. In very recent years, scientists have been studying how different bird species may not only have magnetites in their beaks to navigate using the earth’s magnetic field, but that molecules called cryptochromes may allow birds to actually see those fields! It seems that for this to occur light from the blue-green end of the spectrum is required. There’s even a radical pair theory, as it’s called, that explains how photons striking the bird’s retinas may even become quantum entangled. Cryptochromes are said to be blue light sensitive, regulate circadian rhythms in plants and animals. Scientists have confirmed that the human retina has plenty of cryptochrome and that it is capable of “magnetoception.”
As a teenager back in the late 1960s I was trying to follow ESP researcher and author Harold Sherman’s instructions on how to engage in out-of-body projection. It would begin with a progressive relaxation method, similar to what’s used in hypnosis to help a subject prepare for the relaxed mental state needed. The next step would eventually be visualizing like a mental motion picture screen in your mind’s eye. Repeatedly, as I did this, I would become aware of a swirling blue light in my mind’s eye. Fleeting mental images would quickly come and go, but I was at a complete loss as to what to do with it all. Down the road I eventually read in Sherman’s book You Can Communicate With The Unseen World (1974) that a noted psychic named Anne Gehman recommended that anyone who is right-handed attempting psychometry should place an object in their left hand.
I guess I needed further instructions. I did try practicing psychometry, the art of holding an object (i.e., jewelry, keys, a watch, or anything related to a person or object you were trying to pick up psychic impressions on), and there were a number of people who seemed genuinely confident that I had correctly picked up things about them or the object, but I was hardly ready to hang a sign outside with “Psychic Readings Available.”
Could becoming “entangled” be the key? I’ve even read where studies revealed how the most important light for resetting the biological clock is the blue light of the spectrum.
But eventually, I found other people who independently also claimed to “see” this blue light, and it could even be used psychically some would claim. I was a bit surprised to discover that I wasn’t the only one to see this type of thing.
Tennessee’s investigative mythologist William Henry describes something variously and historically called the Blue Stone, Blue Pearl, or Blue Apple. In his book Oracle of the Illuminati (2003) he wrote: “When kundalini energy becomes active through mantra meditation and rises through the seven chakras many see a subtle blue dot appear and disappear on their mental screen during meditation. …It takes a Living Master, an Oracle, to link the student with the blue light and the inner sounds that lead the student to the higher states of awareness,” which Henry explained could be “out of body.”
There’s also a book called The Initiation, by Dr. Donald Schnell, who wrote: “Many times I would sit to meditate, and I would see a blue dot in the center of my forehead – the location of the third eye…It was from this blue dot that my beloved Swamy Nagananda would appear to me. I didn’t know who he was and wouldn’t find him in India for almost a quarter of a century.”
Engineer and author Alexander Zikas described to me how he had temporarily developed clairvoyant type abilities after working with American psychic Peter Sugleris. “I noticed that this clairvoyant ability originated from a blue twirling light at the location of the Third Eye,” he explained. For former US Naval scientist Eldon Byrd, when doing telepathy experimentation with Israeli psychic Uri Geller, it was green. “When he was sending me a picture or a letter (of the alphabet) it always turned out to be green,” Bryd explained to me. “When my wife and I were doing it the images in my mind were mostly green when I would receive. Now when I was sending, I was sending in full color, but the reception seemed to be an outline of an object or a scene in green.” Uri Geller confirmed to me, “When I receive images, they are usually green on an imaginary screen.”
Remember that the entangled cryptochrome would presumably involve the blue-green portion of the spectrum. Are these people, with their spiritual disciplines or psychic talents or described interactions, quantum entangled thanks to the cryptochrome molecules in the retinas of their eyes? Can humans develop awareness of these fields? Elmer Green of the Menninger Foundation once reported that Tibetan yogis taught clairvoyance to some students by having them sit on a glass plate while in meditation facing the north in a dark, windowless room, while a bar magnet was hanging over their heads, with its north pole pointed upwards to the zenith. It was reported in one study under an Indian biophysicist named Sarada Subrahmanyam that human EEG patterns differed depending on the direction the subject was facing in relation to the earth’s magnetic field. However, curiously enough, his team reportedly found no effects if the subject was a yogi!
When a UFO contact experiencer who lives up near Chicago learned of my interest in this, she notified me of her study of Tibetan Buddhism and the teachings of one Swami Jnaneshvara Bharati. She felt it was a very significant area of inquiry. She shared, “Bharati explains the Bindu as the ‘convergence point of Meditation, Contemplation, Prayer, and Mantra and is part of the mystical, esoteric aspect of many, if not most, religious and meditative traditions.’ Sometimes I would see this subtle blue dot preceding an encounter. I think Bharati’s explanation of the bindu may be part of the underlying mechanism for understanding close encounters.”
Just this year, I had an interesting discussion with Melinda Green, M.D., of Oklahoma, who has had two profound near death experiences, once as a child and the other as an adult, a number of out of body experiences as well as a number of close-range UFO sightings, and three Bigfoot encounters. “I was especially pleased to find out that others see the blue ‘dot,’” she noted. “I have been seeing this since the early 2000’s, but it is in no way subtle. For me it will come when I am relaxed and receptive and usually with my eyes closed but not necessarily meditating. It is an incredibly vivid and iridescent blue and is often surrounded by an almost neon brilliant and iridescent green. The central blue area will pulsate like an opening and closing iris. It will be 2/3 of my visual field and then close down to ¼ of my visual field and will do this over and over until it suddenly stops after several minutes. It is incredibly beautiful and, even though it happens often, I am always amazed.
“I am beginning to agree with your comments on the idea of being ‘encounter prone,’ although I don’t have as many experiences now as I used to have,” she wrote. “What I mostly experience now is the ability to perceive sensory frequency inputs that I did not perceive earlier in life, and which are not ordinary to most humans. One is the apparent ability to see electromagnetic fields, a trait which is found usually only in plants and insects through a mechanism involving cryptochrome proteins Mammals, including humans, have cryptochrome receptors in their eyes, but they are typically used in a different manner than to see magnetic fields (regulation of circadian rhythms). Is it a form of synesthesia that I have developed over time? Or has some so-called ‘junk’ DNA in myself somehow been turned on to allow expression of this trait? All food for thought, anyway. I wish I could find others that can see these fields, and we could compare notes.”
