Colorado MUFON is pleased to welcome investigative writer Peter Robbins on Saturday, November 14, 2026, for “Controversial Deaths of UFO Investigators, Journalists and Authors: Foul Play, Misinterpretation, or Random Chance?”
For decades, claims that individuals were silenced after getting “too close” to the truth have circulated throughout the UFO community. These stories have become part of the subject’s enduring lore—but how well do they stand up to scrutiny?
In this fully illustrated presentation, Robbins examines the deaths of several prominent UFO researchers, journalists, and authors. Drawing on sworn testimony, court documents, autopsy findings, and physical and anecdotal evidence, he considers competing explanations and works to distinguish documented facts from speculation, misinterpretation, and unsupported claims.
Cases include M.K. Jessup, atmospheric physicist Dr. James McDonald, author and broadcaster Frank Edwards, Dr. J. Allen Hynek, Dr. Karla Turner, UFO Magazine editor Graham Birdsall, and Dr. John Mack. The investigation carries particular personal significance for Robbins: three of the men whose deaths he examined had been his friends.
Attendees can expect a thoughtful exploration of how these accounts developed, what the available evidence supports, and where uncertainty remains—with some surprising findings.
